it's here

There's a chill in the air tonight ... I hope you get the opportunity to snuggle up with someone you love {or like a whole lot}.

I might also start bustin' out the sweaters, coats, and scarfs. I think Fall is here to stay ... and that my friends makes me happy! Goodnight to you all. I am off to soak in the glorious claw foot tub I mentioned earlier.

I might also eat a couple of the amazing orange filled oreos I picked up at the store tonight.
Can I say it again?? I love this time of year.

prayers, teensitting, amd giveaways

Ok, so the thing I asked you all to pray for, is happening TODAY! I hope to be able to fill you in with some good news in the following weeks! Until then, please pray that I can "keep calm and carry on" as the popular saying goes!

Also, tonight E and I begin our two week adventure of teensitting. E and I will be house sitting for a family with two teenage girls and one fun loving lab. This will be a little experiment in the world of parenting - I'll let you know how it goes. The girls are usually wonderful so I'm crossing my fingers that it will be as easy as pie! You may be asking "what are you going to do with sweet stella?" Don't fret, she will be coming with us! So to clarify, it will be two teenage girls, a yellow lab, a 1 year old golden retriever, and E and I under the same roof for two whole weeks!

Lastly, super exciting news ... I have been in contact with a couple of companies who are interested in sponsoring giveaways for the blog! I am SO excited about this. The items are each unique and lovely - I think you're going to enjoy them! Keep in touch - I hope to host my first giveaway in the next couple of weeks!!

spare bedroom remodel

Happy Monday! I hope you all had a wonderful weekend! My mom's side of the family came to visit, which helped me speed up the remodel of our spare bedroom. As promised, I wanted to share some before and after pictures.

Before:
The chandelier before I painted it:

After:

I will post soon about how I made the window treatments. They're super easy and inexpensive (less than $50 for both)! Also, I made the headboard out of old shutters I found in our attic when we moved in. Currently, we do not have a box spring for the bed. That's why the mattress looks a little low and the shutters look a little high. I hope to change this very soon! Sorry the lighting is so terrible in the photos. I am working on my photography skills, but I look these pictures late last night and there was zero natural light. I am thinking I need a new fancy camera :)

a Friday tune

A Friday tune for your enjoyment

something made new

Happy Friday blogger friends.
I thought I would share with you all a little project I've done lately. I purchased this desk on Craigslist. This was my first Craigslist purchase ever! I put a couple fresh coats of white paint on this sad desk, added glass knobs (you know they're my weakness), and ta-da ... my fun and lovely new desk!

What do you think?

Did you notice the chalkboard? As I mentioned in an earlier post, things went South with E and I's initial attempt. Oh to be a fly on our wall that night! Thankfully, E persevered and it is now complete!

I'm trying to brainstorm ideas for what to write on it. I always see fun quotes of inspiration on chalkboards in the Pottery Barn magazine.

Any suggestions?

On another note, last night I watched the premier of Flash Forward. I am a fan! I will be tuning in weekly. What I did did not enjoy from the good old tv this week, was Jay Leno's interview with Pee Wee Herman. I was so disturbed after watching. What in the world? {E and I had a debate of who would be scarier to be in a room with - Pee Wee Herman or Marilyn Manson?} Did anyone else see this? Being a mental health person, my mind has been racing with all of the possible reasons for his pathology! If you also saw this, I would love to hear your thoughts!

retreat

Hello blogger friends. Tonight, I am thinking that I need a lovely place like this to retreat to and gather my thoughts. I have some "stuff" going on that I can't really talk about on here, but I would love your prayers on. Please pray that God would grow my trust, patience, and discernment in Him. Thanks friends...

i love everything about this

glitter

No, not the terrible Mariah Carey movie. In line with yesterday being the first day of Autumn, I thought I would share these lovely glitter pumpkins. These pumpkins are easy to make. Simply cover the pumpkin in Modge Podge (you can buy this at any craft store) & roll in glitter. Two easy steps and you have a beautiful Fall centerpiece. You can buy any type of glitter that you would like, but I would suggest sticking with Martha. She truly has the most gorgeous selection.

a blue weekend

Last weekend, I celebrated two wonderful blue events. The first (although it is not the first on here, because uploading pictures on blogger makes me want to pull my hair out!) was a fantastic UK win over U of L. E and I were given free tickets from a gracious family at our church. The other couple in the UK photos, are our dear friends Mike and Joe Joe. They hope to move to France in the next year. E and I are really hoping we can get some time off to pay them a visit.

The second blue celebration was in honor of baby Silas! My goods Angie and Micah are expecting their first child - a little baby boy. I cannot wait to meet him! Here are some pictures from her precious shower.

a friday tune

A very fitting song for this rainy Friday...if you are in the southern/mid-western region that is.
