i'm lovin' it

So have I mentioned lately how I have been working myself to death. I am in the final WEEKS (can you sense the excitement??) of graduate school, and in the meantime the lab I work for has started a new study. This new study requires a second shift worker. As the story goes, the study started before the second shift person was hired. So you know what that means, moi is working tons of OT.

While the OT hasn't come at the most convenient time, I am viewing it as a blessing. Working these extra shifts enables me to take more adventures later in the year.

While I was working last Thursday, I look a little break for a romantic dinner with E. A highly romantic dinner no where else but Micky D's.

A little background, this McDonald's is known to be one of the homeless hangouts in the city. However, this night was like no other. When E and I first got there, I noticed maybe 5 people hanging out. As we sat and ate, somewhere around 60 homeless and other individuals gathered in.

I thought this was really strange, but accredited it to being the homeless center of the city. I even remember saying arrogant things like "I take my break to get away from all the craziness."

The only way I can describe the setting was rowdy. Then, this young girl stood up and started talking to the group. I thought to myself "she looks really out of place." To be honest, she didn't look much like any of the other people hanging out at McDonald's that night.

I saw her speaking and a couple other individuals, but I couldn't make out what they were saying.

I could tell the meeting was over, as E and I were finishing up our dinner. As we were walking out the door, I stopped and asked on of the men what the meeting was all about. He proceeded to tell me that they were having a bible study.

I was blown away. That night I was reminded of the marvelous ways in which God works. He uses the people we would least expect to reach those in need. And He can do it anywhere.

That night I was encouraged that the church does exist outside of the building walls.

I pray that I will be able to live out my faith more clearly and sacrificially.

The gospel can be spread anywhere, and at anytime. Even at a run down McDonald's.

John 21: 15-17
When they had finished eating, Jesus said to Simon Peter,
"Simon son of John, do you truly love me more than these?"

"Yes, Lord," he said, "you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Feed my lambs."

Again Jesus said, "Simon son of John, do you truly love me?"
He answered, "Yes, Lord, you know that I love you."
Jesus said, "Take care of my sheep."

The third time he said to him, "Simon son of John, do you love me?"
Peter was hurt because Jesus asked him the third time, "Do you love me?" He said, "Lord, you know all things; you know that I love you."

Jesus said, "Feed my sheep.

How awesome. Thanks so much for sharing. I can't wait to share with my little boy, he's aiming to be a humanitarian and take care of homeless people.
