hello, stranger

I know it has been too long.
A very long time.
I haven't blogged in months. To be honest I haven't had the desire, and then I gave up social media for lent and the blog was neglected even more.

But today was a challenging day, so I thought I was blog and share some of the joys going on here lately.

I'm in no way going to try to catch up - it's too late for that.

So here's a phone dump to reflect a glimmer of what's been going on with us lately.

My little boy is growing up before my very eyes. He's leaving some of his baby characteristics behind and is becoming quit the handsome toddler. He'll be ONE next month. My heart hurts and feels joy whenever I think about it.

I am so lucky to call him my son. He's so full intense emotions - and thankfully he is usually full of joy.

Even at the hospital.

He's a fabulous eater, and for that I could not be more thankful. I hear too many horror stories about picky kids - I am terrified that one day he will refuse veggies and never turn back. But for today we are good and he will eat just about anything I put in front of him. Also, we've moved past baby food (woo hoo) and he loves to feed himself.

He plays hard. Sometimes a little too hard and I have to remind him that it isn't nice to smack your mom in the face.

Sometimes he gets carried away in his playing and goes head first into his toy box.

Other news with our family ...

We're currently half way through our training classes to become foster parents.

I know I didn't blog about this news either ... so there it is ... Eric and I are becoming foster parents.

It's a call God has placed on our hearts several years ago. A lot of the pieces have been coming together lately, and it's amazing to see how God has prepared our hearts and minds for this journey.

We're anticipating welcoming 1 or 2 children into our home beginning in June (that's when all of our classes and paperwork will be finalized).

So needless to say it will probably be a crazy summer in this house.
Any and all prayer is welcome.
Seriously, I pray and ask God to prepare me. Prepare Eric. Prepare little Parker.
But I honestly don't even know what that preparation looks like - but I trust that he is going it.

A few other things ...

Eric is still in school to become a school guidance counselor.  I have never been more proud of him or trusted his leadership more. Although grad school has been a challenge for our family, and we miss him many nights ... I know it will pay off one day!

Lately, I've had a renewed passion for my health. I think it may have had something to do with watching Food Inc.

I've been more disciplined on eating real food - and trying to get in at least 5 fruits and veggies each day. I can honestly say I feel better health wise and in my own skin.

A lot of my renewed interest in health was spurred on by little P himself. I knew it was only a matter of time before he realized that he was eating veggies and mom and dad were eating pizza. And since I am adamant on him eating a healthy and full diet - I figured it was about time that mom did too.
It's amazing how kids are live in accountability.

Lastly, I'm currently reading - One Thousand Gifts. It's an amazing book and I would recommend it to anyone.

It's eye opening and challenging in so many ways.
It was a gift from a friend and it came at the perfect time, as I am going through a lot of challenges and questions at work.

I am so slow, but my heart is to fill my life with the discipline of thanksgiving/

I want to live the full life.
I am learning.
